Where's the Divorce button?

Maybe this has already been thrashed out on the forums and I've just missed it, but how do you de-household two people? We've just had a couple who are some of our major donors and they've just divorced.

How do we get them back to being separate individuals?

The message I'm getting currently is "Cannot delete affiliation because one or more affiliate is depending on the Group for the Primary Address. The rule for Require Address is turned on, which enforces a constituent to have at least one Primary Address. (Constituent Address)"

  • To take that just a bit further- you can either remove the affiliations and keep the household record as its own entity, or you can turn the household record into an individual record and merge with one of the affiliated individuals.  If you retain the household record all the ticket and contribution history will remain there.  If  you merge it with one of the individuals that person will retain all the ticket and contribution history.  If you want to turn a household into an individual you can do that in the household operations section of the constituent menu while in the household record.  You can also create a new relationship type of ex-spouse so that the history of the relationship is retained.
