Is there a installation guide without using TIM?

Hi All,

Good day.

We try to install V11 on our TEST.

"TIM" just made me very confused.  It said "build succeded", but when I ran "Services Diagnostics",

it said, "the underlying connection was closed: an unexpected error occurred on a send."

and ssrs reports looks like only can be installed on sql server. but is it that  means I have to run two copies of TIM?

one copy of TIM  located at services machine, another copy of TIM located at SQL database machine?

thank you very much for your time.

have fun.

Best regards,

Ben

    Hi Ben,

Our only published instructions revolve around using the installer, TIM.  The process without TIM would certainly not be simpler for you and the error you are seeing really doesn’t have to do with use of the installer.  It seems to be indicating that the core services are installed and responding but the dashboard itself is having some sort of issue.

Also, you don’t actually need to install multiple instances of TIM.  What most people so is load the installation files to a share that is accessible to all your various servers.  You do need to be on each server individually to install the components relevant to that server (this is avoid Windows permissions issues) but you can run TIM from the single copy on the share.  As a side note, you would have to go to each server even if you were not using the installer and then you would have to manually copy individual files locally which would be much more effort.

My suggestion would be to take another look at both the server preparation and upgrade documents and make sure you fully understand and have followed the instructions.  If you still have question or are getting errors, please submit a TASK ticket and we are happy to help you get things going.

  • Hi Ron,

    Good day.

Thank you very much for your help.

If it was possible, I was prefer to have the documents without TIM.

Because have something is better than nothing with some guess.

Yes, I am following the instructions. That is why the most serivices are working. Every single service was managed to be successfully installed, but  web report and ssrs still have some problems, and service diagnostics are still failing. Basically  our v11 TEST is working, except the web report part.

I am thinking raising a helpdesk ticket next week.

Thank you Ron for your help.

Thank you all for your time.

    have fun.

    Best regards,

    Ben

    Hi All,

    Good day.

The service diagnostics error has been resovled.

It was caused by web service structure.

The structure A in IIS was like this:

    Website
    test---(this folder caused problems)
    applications(webreports…)

now the structure B in IIS like this:

    website
    applications(webreports….)

Structure B works, but not structure A.

    thank you for your time.

    have fun.
