Rankings on Individual and Household

We're using rankings to do MOS shifts on our Web site, and we've noticed that rankings that live on an individual account don't work anymore. When logging in with a login that lives on an individual account that is a primary affiliate the household account is logged in rather than the individual, so the rankings on the individual account are ignored.

Has anyone dealt with rankings in v11? How are you handling this? Are you moving all rankings to the household level? What if you want different rankings for individuals within a household? Is it possible to achieve that?

  • Hi Brian -

You raise an interesting question - all our web related rankings (which we don't use robustly I should add) have been moved to the household as we calculate off ticket and contribution history that we've also moved to the household. We did this for a few reasons - 1) we currently don't trigger rank off of something that is identifiable by an individual 2) we have a lot of log ins that are probably individual and haven't been flagged as such, so they live on the household as well. 3) new log ins (from temporary log ins) for our subscribers will remain on the household.

However, I can totally see a scenario where you'd trigger rank off individual (i.e. volunteer hours, board status, email club, etc) - I think it does start going down a bit of a rabbit hole especially since v11 does not have the ability yet to attach a context to a transaction.

Some of the issues/questions I can see with the individual vs household rank (I'm just throwing these out there for sake of argument)

    - Why wouldn't you want all activity for the individuals to bump up the household rank to the appropriate rank?

    - What would happen if the individual had a lower rank than the household? Would you roll all transaction data into the individual ranks as well?

So I really didn't answer your post, but it does give us some ideas to chew on!
