changing ownership of emails/addresses?

Is it possible to change an email that is on a household account to being on an individual account? Looks like the "owner" dropdown is not active. Is that a security set up thing?

We'd like to take advantage of the hh/indiv distinction, and we have a lot of emails that we don't know which individual they belong to, but we would like to update them as we find out. Any suggestions?

    Hi Ryan,

Does the following scenario describe your reply? I want to make sure I
understand this correctly, since we will keep all email addresses and
associated logins on the Household record when we convert.

v10: Individual Type account with N1 John and N2 Jane Smith. One Primary
email address on the account; the N1/N2 flag is set to Both on the Primary
login associated with the email address.

When we convert to v11, we will have the email address and the login
associated with it move to the Household account, since we don't know if
it's John's or Jane's email address. If we're talking to John and ask whose
email it really is, and he says it's Jane's, is it possible to move the
email from the Household account onto Jane's individual account with, say,
1 or 2 clicks or the flip of a dropdown? Or am I understanding your
response to mean the email and associated login are already saved to the
Household account and therefore need to be deleted from the Household
account and entered onto Jane's account? If that's the case, it's not a
copy or a "reclassification of ownership" - it's a delete and add new
situation - so how would we know what to set the Login password to? Jane
won't know that we've un-done her password and she'll be very frustrated
the next time she tries to login.

    Thanks,

As it stands, when adding a new entity, you can choose the owner within a
household by selecting the appropriate constituent from the dropdown. Once
an entity (address, eaddress, etc) is saved, you cannot change ownership
    from the client.

  • Oh Ryan - you always teach me new things. Thanks for the clarification that it is a dropdown on first creation (e.g. clicking the 'Add' button and before saving the info). That makes me happy! At least I don't have to bounce through household/individuals when adding various pieces of info.

    Mary -

From your scenario, that email & log in would already be a 'saved' entity and the drop down will not be active. The only way to "move" this information would be the delete and add method or through SQL. This is where I referred to having to do something like that through the back end or a custom report for your organization.
