Association mapping

Hi,

Am I right in thinking that if I don’t add a mapping for an association in TRU_ASSOCIATION_MAPPING then they will be lost during the migration? The reason I’m asking is that we have a lot of redundant associations from our original Dev conversion and this sounds like a quick way to get rid of them.

Thanks in advance,

Gary

  • Gary,

Yes, if you do not map an affiliation or association the data is no longer in the system.

Alternately, you may map the accounts to an Unknown affiliation and association type.  That way as you work with constituents you may discover the definition of the link and make the change to those Unknowns into a specific type - so we know the constituents are related but we are not sure how.

Another option is to delete the records in the associations data table in v10 before you upgrade.

As you see in the data check script there is an error thrown for every unmapped association, if you have several purposeful unmapped associations you may miss an association which should actually be mapped so there is a risk there.

    Best,
