Attributes

I hope someone can clarify for us – do attributes stay with the Household, or get assigned to the individual accounts?  Or both?

Thanks,

    I believe it is based on n1n2, i.e. if it is set to

    Both -> Stays at the household

    N1 or N2 -> goes to primary affiliate 1 or 2.

  • That is my understanding as well.

    There is also a Copy To A1a2 checkbox in the TRU_ATTRIBUTE_MAPPING table. This is what the documentation says about that:

    Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE

    Copy to A1A2 – This checkbox is used in the rare occasion where an attribute is pervasive and should be replicated on all the constituent records (the original plus any individuals created and affiliated to the original) rather than being moved from one to another.  When this is checked, the attribute will remain on the household or group record, and new duplicate attributes will be added to the newly created individual constituent records on the migration.  An example of when this might be used is the “Void Merge” attribute.  You may wish to copy that attribute from a newly migrated household to both its individual affiliates.

    NOTE: We recommend that the Copy to A1A2 option be used sparingly and judiciously.  Given the functionality available to view and use data across household and individuals, the only attributes which should truly be replicated are attributes which have an effect on functionality (like Void Merge) or have a critical requirement to be across all records.  Replicating attributes in all records in a household means that you then need to maintain those attributes for each record.
