Arts/Festival Management Software

Hi all

I'm just wondering if anyone would be willing to share what Arts/Festival Management Software their organisation uses?  We have heard of Artifax, OPAS, and Marcato Festival, but I'm sure there's many more.

Our colleagues who work with hiring artists, crew, and all financial aspects are looking to purchase some software to manage the administration of creating contracts, pay schedules, rehearsals, schedules, repertoire, voice types, agents etc.  Grange Park Opera holds an annual 6-week summer opera festival so these colleagues are looking for some software to hold information on singers (photos, contact details, agent details, measurements, accommodation, bank details, voice type, etc etc) and other cast and crew.  It also needs to interact with Sage.

I'd be really grateful for any info on what software is available and any reviews, good or bad, of said software.

Many thanks

  • My two cents, but if you’re not using the scheduling part of, say, Artifax, you might save a significant amount of money by adding a custom screen or two, and a report or two, to Tessitura to handle this.

Some of what you want is easily set up using attributes. We have one called “Voice Type” that gets applied to all singers, for instance. We also have singers associated to their agents, and, when we don’t have a singer’s address and phone, we list him or her with an address type of “Artist Agent.”

Tessitura has many machines that might be used to help. You could set up a “Contracts” season and campaign, and use Solicitations, I bet, to handle setup and fulfillment. Tessitura wouldn’t build the text of the contract, but I bet you could build a custom report that could assemble what you want based on triggers you set up on a custom screen.

We have some archived contract information in Tessitura that I plan to put in a custom screen, control-grouped so that only the appropriate people have access.

The only piece missing is an easy way to tie an artist’s performance history to the constituent record.

There are some organizations that are doing a fair bit of artist management in Tessitura already. There was a 2010 conference session that can be downloaded called “Managing Staff and Artists: that might be helpful:  http://www.tessituranetwork.com/network/Conference/Conference%20Materials%20Archive/2010%20Conference%20Materials.aspx

  • Thanks Dave, I've emailed you off-list.

I've just realised I've posted this in the NextGen forum and there doesn't seem to be a way to move it now - total noob error, sorry all!

    Best wishes
