data from other systems

It was mentioned at the conference that v11 would allow the ability to share info with other systems.  We have a seperate database for our class registrations.  Would it be possible to import the class data into Tessitura?  This would be very helpful with reporting combined revenue and seeing the big picture of a patron/household.

  • On a side note, Shelley, we've customized Tessitura rather successfully to take class registrations, and imported student history from our legacy system when we converted back in 2006. If that's something you're interested in hearing about, let me know.

I believe that further built-in education features are on the Next Gen roadmap for future releases, as well.

  • Hi Shelley,

Wanted to provide some more info about the "sharing with other systems" note from the conference.  One of the primary goals of the NextGen project is to develop a web services layer across the application.  By having the business logic of the system in this new layer, Tessitura will inherently enable interoperability with other systems in a more flexibile way.  Version 11 will have the first part of the services layer, focused primarily on Constituent information.  So while we are building in a new architecture to enable better interaction with other systems, it does not point to specific out-of-the-box new functionality around import/export in Version 11.  Also, since v11 is really primarily about the constituent, and not focused on transactions, I don't think that the new services coming in v11 would enable your ability to bring in transactional data from an outside system.

However, keep in mind that the current version of Tessitura does have order import capability (the Order Import Utility) and Constituent Import capability, and it may be that you can use these existing tools to start crafting a process to bring in data from your registrations system.

    Thanks!
