Constituent Security in v11

Greetings,

In v11 will it be possible to control what constituent information is available for the children of a family?  For instance, our Education department has extensive information on a student but they may not want to share that information with Development.

Thanks,

Laurie Skouge

  • Laurie,

Control groups will still work as they have previously so if there is data which should not be visible to all departments then it should be control grouped (as it probably is now).

    Thank you Anna!

We don't currently use Control Groups.  Since the children will be constituents themselves, is there a way to filter the security within Constituents in the new version?

  • Laurie,

Assuming that you are using constituency based security now, the best way  would probably be to implement control groups.  Constituency based security is applied based on the account which is loaded at the time, so although you may have a screen hidden when on the student it will not be hidden when you are on the household.  Constituency based security only controls what you see on the screen but not what you have access to in reporting or lists.  Control groups will make it so the date virtually doesn't exist for the users who do not have rights.

If you are using standard security without constituency (some user groups do not have rights to a custom screen for example) then that will work as it always has.

    Best,

    Anna
