Post-Show Gathering Space?

Hi Everyone,

Our performing arts center is looking into the idea of having a space for patrons to meet after the show to discuss and process what they've just seen. We want to help continue and deepen their experience of theater-going. Do any of you have a "cafe" or "bar" in place? Could you share about your process?

Thank you!

  • Center Theatre Group has our Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City which is designed for this purpose.  Please feel free to contact me directly and I can answer questions and put you in contact with the person that heads up that effort if necessary.

    Thanks,

  • We have the Stackner Cabaret which serves as both a performance venue and a pre- and post-show gathering spot/watering hole. Patrons, staff, and actors frequent it, and we tell people “you never know who you’ll meet!” It is a full-service restaurant and bar. Info on the menu is here: http://www.milwaukeerep.com/planvisit/dinner.htm.

This year we’ve started a late night series called Rep Platforms in the Stackner Cabaret which are additional performances related to something on one of our stages. For example, during our run of CABARET the musical earlier this season we had volunteers from the cast performing musical theatre selections. We’ve also invited other community arts partners to this series. Tickets are free, but we pass hats to raise money for our education programs. Feel free to contact me off-list for more info; I’d also be happy to connect you with our point people here.

  • Suzanne,

We have something we call Act 4 which is more of an after-party after select performances.  It takes places in a common space in our theater just outside our 4th Ring (top balcony).
