RE: Number of Years as a Donor

Alana,

So, this is sort of an advanced method.

With the current generation of Tessitura, a DBA should be able to create a fairly straight forward local view to count the years of donations for all donors.  To allow non-DBA users to use this data you could then attach that view to a keyword (usable in lists) for searching, and a query element for exporting the data.  I’ve not tried this specific request.  However, it seems like it would be strait forward thing to do.

One of the harder questions might be what donations to count for a particular year.

Are you using Fiscal Year vs Calendar Years,

are you looking at Pledge Payments or Contributions dates (What about future scheduled payments)

are creditees counted as having given in a particular year, or are we talking just the donors only.

The answers to all of these question would make some difference in how you construct the view.  I know that these answers are important to my friends in development.

Subject: [Tessitura Next Generation Forum] Number of Years as a Donor

Hey Everyone,

My organization is trying to find a way to pull the total number of years someone has been a donor for a list of patrons.

We are not particularly concerned about establishing consecutive years, nor do we care if someone is still a current donor. We would just like to be able to export data about years of giving for any group of patrons whom we select. Right now, it seems the only solution is to manually go in and count up how many gifts appear in the contribution screen for each individual – we hope there is a better way.

I was wondering if anyone out there has come-up with a solution to this problem and would be willing to share.

Thanks! Alana
