I apologize in advance if this question has been asked/answered or if I mangle the question. I am, by all definitions, a newbie to Tessitura.
I understand from my colleagues that in the current version there is a significant, or an amount of business logic that is built into the SQL stored procedures. Is this the direction for next gen or will it use the more conventional current model of abstracting the business logic from the DB layer?
Thank-you
Stuart Cotts
That is absolutely one of the goals of the Next Generation project. We are building a robust service layer with which to house the business logic that currently resides in a combination of database procedures and client code.

My next question... and again please understand that I am new to the Tess community. I can see that this will be a significant change (but a good change) for our organization and the custom work we have done with Tess. I am trying to get a feel for when this change may occur so that we can be ready for it. Any idea's????
Thanks,Stuart
Hi Stuart,
The NextGen Project is rolling out over the course of the next few years, and the current Tessitura software will "evolve" to include this new services layer. Each new release, beginning with Tessitura v11, will have NextGen functionality, including business logic in the new services layer. We will shortly be providing more concrete guidance on what to expect in Version 11, and when to expect it. Broadly, we expect Version 11 to be available toward the later half of 2011, and it will include new services and functionality surrouding Constituents. We will provide much more detail about what to expect and how to prepare at the upcoming NextGen Webinar and in the NextGen section of this website. Stay tuned...
Many thanks!
Andrew
Thank-you very much Andrew, good information, we will certainly be watching the webinar.....
