Web-based Communication

Greetings from the Next Gen team!

As you may have noticed, we are spending lots of time asking about communication lately.  We received some great feedback about postal addresses, phones and general communication methods.

Today we are asking about current and future trends surrounding web-based methods of communication.  I will let you determine what you consider a “web-based method of communication”, but examples might include email, sms, chat, various social media, etc.

So the questions:

1. How are you communicating with your constituents through web-based methods of communication today, and how do you see this changing in the future?

2. How are constituents communicating with you through web-based methods of communication today and how do you see this changing in the future?

3. What web-based communication information would you like to be able to store (or would like constituents to be able to store about themselves) to enable these current or future business needs?

Thanks!
Andrew

  • Dear Next Gen Team,

We are communicating with our constituents in many different ways over the web.  By far the most prevalent is email.  We see this changing now with a lot of our younger constituents.  SMS, chat and social media are ways we communicate with our constituents over the web, although a very small percentage but, we see it growing more.  I would say that official communication is likely through email where as other forms have been more for communicating offers, promotions and information in general to a mass.

Users are likely to communicate back with us under the same guidelines, where they use email for “official” communication but they use the other forms more for feedback that is general, or comments on other things like offers and such.

I think continuing to collect users preferences is an important component of Tessitura.  Capturing for instance that a user just bought and liked a CD of a Broadway Musical that is coming to town, or a book that we are doing a play of, would be helpful in driving customers to shows that they would like.  To know for instance that they just shared something about a play on their facebook may allow them to take advantage of a special offer.  It would have to be something automated.  I think location based advertising continues to be a very lucrative potential where I could communicate to a customer via their cell phone because they are in the area of the theatre.

    Just my two cents.

    Thanks,
