Hi all,
We're looking to launch monthly memberships using Donate2 very soon. We'd like to offer memberships that are $7/month instead of a lump sum $80/year.
In Tessitura, we'd set up new membership levels that expire after a month (instead of 12). We'd likely set up a production season with month-long performances, too (and price types etc.) This means that there would be a performance for the month of Jan 1st-Feb 1st, Jan 2nd-Feb 2nd, Jan 3rd-Feb 3rd, etc - 365 new performances per year, total.
I'm curious if anyone else has approached Donate2/monthly memberships this way, and what you might have to say about it! Also curious if there are any other ways to approach this that we may not have thought of.
Thanks,
Kristin
Hi Kristin,
Here at WTTW/Chicago PBS, we use Tessitura for sustainer memberships that are billed monthly. The way we have it set up is an annual pledge with a 12-month payment schedule. These pledges are rolled over each month for the month that member joined, and then they are billed on the same day of every month through a scheduled process. This generally works well, and we currently have sustainer and annual members in the same membership levels.
However, we are starting to work with L2 on a custom web cart that will use Donate2 to process gifts, and how sustainers will be billed is going to be a challenge. Donate2 passes through contributions on an order, and it will be billed as an individual contribution rather than one that pays off a pledge. Not only will this cause challenges for the way our sustainer memberships are currently set up and how we report on them, but there's also a challenge to seeing what their membership level is alongside our annual members if it's not showing up as payments towards an annual pledge.
Your idea set up sounds interesting, though I don't think it would solve for our problem. We are definitely very eager for Tessitura's recurring contribution feature, which we had been anticipating for v16!
