Membership Ticketing Structure for Timed Ticket Exhibitions

Hey Tessiturians!

I am Chris from BkM in NYC, and we are currently onboarding on V16! Exciting.

I am wondering if any attraction based orgs with timed ticketed shows separate from General Admission offer untimed tickets for their members? What is your structure like? Do you have a price zone for untimed? Do you have separate performances/productions just for members? How does the reporting go for you? Happy with it?

Alternatively, if you offer timed tickets for your members, what does that look like? Do you reserve tickets for them? Upsell opportunities you find helpful? Are they upset?

Warmly,

Chris

  • Hey, Chris! Congrats on the move. We onboarded straight to v16. We have multiple types of timed exhibitions and shows - our giant screen and planetarium are individual showtimes throughout the day. Our permanent exhibit halls are timed, zoned by the hour. Our special exhibits and butterflies are timed, zoned in 15 minute increments. Our dig pit at our satellite location is timed, zoned in 30 minute increments. For our zoned perfs, we have them in at 1159 pm daily, and our IT and web team have scripted the TNEW page to say "All Day" instead. And then we have events that start at a particular time but may or may not be sold until x minutes after start at the box office, kiosks, or TNEW.

We do not have separate perfs for members, with the exception of member only events. We do use ranking on TNEW for members, but this is primarily so they can get their tiered access to purchase summer camps and summer scouts.

Our members haven't had any issues booking what they want to see without that extra buffer for them. We've built extra padding into our facilities in case we need to release extra tickets for some of our special events; it's not an issue for regular daytime admission. We also allow them to scan their member cards at entry or at the kiosks to skip the box office line. We also have a call center if they'd like to reserve that way. Membership verbiage is sprinkled through our website, and our VS staff members are well-trained even at the venues on membership upsell talking points.

Good luck finding what works best for you! Slight smile
