2-Year Memberships: Building and Implementation

Hi all,

There's been some discussion on this topic in the past, but looking to revive/see if there's been any developments from other community members.

We're looking at implementing a 2-year membership option for renewing members across three of our levels. All of our current ideas aren't without significant work in one area or another, which is fine, but we'd love to hear if anyone had a nice, semi-out-of-the-box experience with building this option.

Our current thoughts:

1. Create new membership levels reflecting the 2-year pricing
   1. Problem: will muck up NRR reporting of membership base
2. Book as contributions in a campaign not tied to membership transactions, write a script to convert to membership campaign and designation
   1. Problem: constituent would not gain access to free member admission immediately
3. Create new membership organization and levels reflecting the 2-year pricing
   1. Problem: reporting again
4. Enter 2, 1-year memberships in cart, discount to reflect 2-year pricing, make one membership active and the other pending
   1. Problem: unsure of the constituent experience online when booking this

Does anyone have experience with any of the above OR a different solution they might have tried?
