Extending free months of membership through TNEW

Hi All, 

We at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston are contemplating extending a special offer of “Become a member, and get two months free on your membership.”  We currently use T-NEW for our e-commerce functionality.

If your museum/organization has had experience with offering a free month (or months) of membership through TNEW, was T-NEW able to automatically perform the two month extension?  Or did providing the extension require special hand processing by your data entry team to make this happen?

  • We recently did an offer like this, and we put all membership purchases On Account in TNEW, then we would process the membership manually the next day. We did this as a workaroud because the Print Acknowledgment report pulls the original expiration date associated with the gift, so if we just let them process through and adjusted the expiration date manually, they would not show up correctly (and would have to be manually adjusted) on the spreadsheet we use to merge membership cards. This may not be a consideration for you. The other thing to note is that if you put membership gifts on account in TNEW, if the constituent doesn't have a current membership, they won't have access to any special pricing you have associated with membership until you manually process the membership gift.
