Tracking board member tenures with Memberships

Hello,

I'm working on converting how we track the tenures of our board members from an excel file into Tessitura. When have members who have rotated on and off our board since 1963. My organization is looking to track the years each member was on the board, and it was suggested that Memberships would be the best place to record this data. Has anyone else had experience with importing this kind of historical data? Does it make sense to build Campaigns/Memberships dating back to the 60's, or is there a better place to record this data in Tessitura?

  • Hi Scott,

We created something similar to Martin and we're managing Board  membership via Affiliations.  We created a Board  group of relationship types and built out our different Board levels.  We use Titles to track committee chairs, etc.  And we created a stored procedure that adds the Board (BRD) constituency to any account that has an active Board affiliation, and removes it when the affiliation is inactivated.  That way, the Board relationship shows up in the header and anyone who interacts with them is aware they are a Board member the moment they open their account.  We use start and end dates to track when they joined the Board and if/when their term ends.  We've had a few members leave the board and rejoin at a later date.  For those, we create a new Affiliation to represent the gap in Board service.
