HI All-
We started with Tessitura in March and have not reopened. We are a sceince center and sell Memberships as products. We have set up Gifts of Memberships as their own Production Season. We have sold only 1 GOM all year and our set up is wonky. When someone buys a GOM, the membership goes on the givers account and we have a form where the giver tell us who is the recipient thast ends up as a CSI on the givers account. We then send the recipient a voucher that they can redeem for a membership when they visit us. We do not want the GOM to be applied to the givers account. We want the giver to purchase the voucher, not really the membership.
How do others deal with this?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Sue,
At Auckland Museum we also use memberships as products & have gift memberships. We use TNEW, do you? Our Membership Manager didn't want to use gift certs as she wanted a membership pack to be received instead of a gift cert. But we had the same issues you do, with web sales & the data ending up on the purchasers record only.
We elected to add a customization that creates the membership on the recipients record, from the data entered into the web form (from LTR_TNEW_CUSTOM_FORM_DATA) by the purchaser, that ends up as the CSI in Tessitura. I've seen quite a few posts where orgs have created a custom job to take data from a CSI & push it into Tessitura where required. Is that something you could look into?
For us, we retain the gift transaction on the purchasers account & overnight the transaction is also added to the ticket history of the recipients record. The purchaser is added as the benefactor listed in the membership record, which is added to the recipients record.
Without that customization we would have to create the memberships manually from the CSI data collected. Over the Xmas period we sold 90 gift memberships right up until Xmas eve - something we wouldn't have been able to do without the customization.
I'm really hoping that the whole gift membership process will be addressed by both Tessitura & TNEW in the new membership rework underway now - including being able to purchase more than one membership or gift cert at a time & having the delivery methods make more sense for memberships - fingers crossed!
Thanks Jo- this is very helpful!!
