We are an organization with multiple locations to sell memberships and we like to track these different channels through different Membership Funds. Now that we have more membership gifts coming in online, we still want to credit our specific sites for the membership if we can clearly connect the sale to that site. Adjusting each contribution to put the payment on account and create a new contribution after the initial gift is made is not ideal, but the only solution we have found to change the fund on a completed contribution. Does anyone have any other work around for this? Or maybe this will be included in an update? Thank you!!
Hi Genevieve,
Channel and Source can both be changed on contributions without an adjustment in a batch, and their recommended use is much closer to what you are going for. Have you use those before? Source might be particularly helpful because it can be entered directly into your TNEW site (in the promo field) or embedded into links. Both Source and Channel can be reported on in Tessitura Analytics.
Hi Michael,
Thank you for your response! I'm new to Tessitura, but I know that the team did a lot of research before deciding to use the fund instead of the designation. Adjustments were meant to be minimal, but of course are much more frequent now with COVID and the move to online sales. We're using fund to track separate lines of membership revenue, but through one main membership web page (for the time being, until we process sales onsite again). We still want the channel to be "Web" for online sales and the source to be the notice they are responding to, so I don't think changing those for site membership revenue would be ideal in our scenario.
Contribution Worker is another field you could consider. It's intended use is to give credit to the person who brought in the gift, but it's frequently used for departments or teams, like in your use case. You can create constituent accounts representing your sites and set them up as workers. As with source and channel, the contribution worker field can be changed outside of a batch. Contribution workers are reportable in the Contributions By Worker report, and in Analytics.
Thanks, Michael. I can look into that. Are designations reportable in Analytics as well?
Yes, they sure are!
Hi Michael, I have a follow up question regarding designations. In Analytics, when we report on designations can we show revenue against goals? I see in campaigns that we can set goals for designations, so reporting on how well each site is doing towards their revenue goal in Analytics would be key. Thanks!
