2-year memberships and adding a third adult to a membership

We have a couple of new features that we are trying to add to our membership options in 2020 and I'm trying to figure out how to best set this up in Tessitura:

1-adding a two-year membership option

2-adding a third adult to a membership

The only suggestion I've heard thus far is setting up new membership levels that include these offerings... I was originally thinking that these could just be across-the-board add-ons to any level of membership, but it doesn't sound like it's that easy to do in Tess...

Does anyone have any creative suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

Yes, we could certainly sell 2 1-year memberships, but I think that would still require manual entry for the expiration date and I was looking to avoid that in order to avoid errors by our front facing staff.

Re: item 2, I think I may just need to scale down how many of our levels may offer the third person option...

  • You could do the longer membership durations with the Expiration Months in membership setup.

The challenge in making new membership levels are numerous.  Including

    • making sure that you don't have over-lapping dollar amounts
    • and that all membership level codes are unique system-wide. (Across all membership organizations)

Historically the system would allow you to do both of these things.  However, If you did either the system could do some odd things.

P.S.  If you go down the new membership level path, I encourage you to do this in TEST and very carefully tested prior to making changes in Live.

    • Look at putting your contributions in
    • Look at any needed changes to your acknowledgments
    • Look at how this will impact your web site and how you service your new membership levels
    • Look at how the Membership Update utility is working.
    • How entitlements might work if you are using that packaged customization.

For me, this has been a lot of work.  Last time I did something like this we took 8 weeks to set up and carefully test before going live.  With care, this can be done.
