Allocating a Membership to Primary Affiliate of HH

Primary Affiliate Emily purchased a membership. She is a primary affiliate of a HH, Jerry is the other Primary Affiliate.

Our business practice is for all transactions to live to the HH, thus the initial membership will be on the HH too. However, only one membership was purchased....for Emily.

I know that I cannot transfer the membership to her record, but how can I assign it to her only, and not Jerry.

When I click on "Assign Membership" it does not allow me to assign Emily's individual constituent record.

Is anyone else running into this issue? Does anyone have a solution or work-around?

  • Hi, Marie,

Our Air Zoo memberships have the same issue: they may not apply to all members of a household.  During implementation, Kjersten & Jonathan & Becci devised a way to handle this by using an affiliation between the HH (owner of the membership) and the person to whom the membership belongs.  We created affiliation types for each membership level, and only create these relationships on the appropriate records. For example, A2 of a household has an individual membershp to the Air Zoo.  We create the "Individual Member" relationship between A2 and the household, use relationship start and end dates that mirror the membership start and end dates, and that's pretty much it.
