Hello, everyone!I'm new to Managing our Membership Department and to setting up Appeals and Sources in Tessitura. Are any of you willing to share some examples of Appeals and Sources you use to track Renewals? Any assistance would be appreciated - even if its links to tutorials that would assist me in this endeavor. Thanks, everyone!
Hey Michael,
When I was a fundraiser (prior to being a Consortium Manager), my approach to Appeals and Sources was that my Appeal was a Campaign-level container for the various Sources which represented individual mailings/communications throughout the fiscal year of that Campaign.
Since moving into my current position, I've seen examples where an Appeal is literally that: a place to group all mailings/communications related to a specific appeal (like Year-End fundraiser, Pointe Shoe Fund, etc.). In this model, the Sources can then be the specific mailings/communications but it can also be set up so that some of the Sources are used to track different patron groups which are being contacted.
Where it's a bit confusing is you can do that "Sources as different patron groups" using either model. It's probably a bit cleaner if you have an Appeal for each actual appeal over the course of a fiscal year though.
So in a mock of the situation you're describing, I could see two ways:
Way #1: You set up a fiscal year-long Appeal for Membership Renewals and your Sources within that appeal track every single way in which you tried to renew somebody over those 12 months.
Way #2: You set up multiple Appeals for Membership Renewals within your fiscal year (maybe by month?) and your Sources will track specific ways that you tried to renew people within those Appeal containers.
Thank you,
Brian
