Past Memberships by Month

Does anyone have a fairly straight forward way of reporting on how many total members there were in a specific month in that past? For example, if I wanted to know how many members our organization had last July, August, etc. in either TSTATS or Tessitura?

Any insight would be helpful!

  • Hi Kimberly,

    I struggle with this, too! Our workaround for years has been this: The "Membership Totals by Level" Report is scheduled to run and email to the Development team on the last minute of the last day of every month. This provides a snapshot right before any memberships expire on the first of the next month. They then enter this data into a spreadsheet that shows totals at each level per month. They've been doing it for years, so we have snapshot data of memberships/level/month for several years now.

    That's how we do it here, but I wish I knew an easy way to pull this kind of snapshot of the past information in Tessitura/Tstats and would be grateful for any insights!

  • So one quick-n-dirty way I've answered this question is to create a list. The parameters I've used are:

    Membership Org IN CMA memberships (we have a lot of affiliate groups)

    Membership Exp Date >= 07/01/2016 (for this example, I'm looking for accounts that were members in July 2016)

    Membership Initiation Date <=07/31/2016

    So the list returns accounts that had a membership that was active during the month of July 2016. You can change up the parameters to answer more specific questions as needed, e.g. how many Patron level in July 2016, or begin with that list in T-Stats.

    Hope this helps!

  • Thank you so much, Jim--this is extremely helpful!
