Ack Issue / Identifying Memb Changes

Our acknowledgement letter types have one key distinction...the constituent NEEDS a new member card...or DOES NOT need a new member card. Unfortunately, the ack rules do not sufficiently account for additional gifts made throughout the life of a membership. Below is an example: - John Doe renews a 12-month membership at the same level as his recently expired membership (his NRR Status is Renew) - 6 months later, John Doe makes an additional gift of $100 that does not affect his membership level (his NRR Status is Renew) Because the acknowledgment rule triggers based on NRR Status or Macro/Micro trend and, in this case, the status remained unchanged, our system would tell us that John Doe needs a membership card, when in fact he does not. So, I'm hoping to create a list that identifies constituents who have made an additional gift that changed their membership level over the same time period as the ack report we're running. However, I'm struggling to setup the parameters in a way that would require little updating each round. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thank you!

  • Hi Josh,

We run into this and I’ve been thinking about the same thing but haven’t implemented anything yet.  The only thing I’ve thought of that is feasible for us would be to create 2 different acknowledgement letter types that can get selected during gift entry – one for “Letter & card”, the other for “Letter only”.
