Hi All - I feel like I should know this information, but somehow I don't! And after a not-fruitful search of help and forums I'm putting it to the group:
We want to create many, many source codes to implement an evaluation project where we embed the source in a URL that is matched with a particular web advertisement, so that we can track and get some response and ROI info back on our various web advertising campaigns. We've got our website all set up to accept an embedded source URL, but before I go and create a billion source codes, I want to make sure they don't show up for the ticket office to choose from when they are in an order screen and muddy the waters for them (we've gotten to a really streamlined source list for them and I don't want to create a mess :) I know how to make sure they see them in Campaign and Appeal set up by using Hot List, now I am looking for the opposite. How do I hide/block all of these new source codes from them?

Hi Jen,
The way to hide them is to assign the appeal for the sources to a control group to which the box office doesn't have access. You may need to set up a new control group for this purpose. When you do so you'll want to make sure that marketing users and the Web API user have access to this special control group.

Something we do Jen, is to mark any sources we don't want the box office to use with an X at the beginning (ie: X - Internet Source). We have a naming convention in place for all of our sources, so box office source codes are prefaced with a B, development are prefaced with an F (for fundraising), and then any that are for other purposes with an X. This seems to work well for us.
