Hello all,
Can anyone see a reason not to create a Source in a 2011/12 FYear Appear that is used at the end of 2011/12 as well as the start of 2012/13?
I read in the documentation that the End Date on a Source will override the Appeal End Date, but thought I should bring it up here for the Appeal experts to chime in on!
Best,
Nicholas Hudson-Ellis
Hi Nicholas,
The only time it would matter is if you are processing a gift certificate purchase using one of those sources, and there is nothing else in the order (no performances or packages). In that case the fiscal year for the gift certificate GL transaction is pulled from the campaign associated with the appeal to which the source you use belongs. It’s a pretty obscure circumstance, but something to keep in mind. For the vast majority of circumstances, though, it really doesn’t matter.

That is great, thanks Kevin!
I don't think this should impact us, the only work-group selling Gift Cert's is the public ticket desk, which does not refer to special Sources' like the one I have described.
Are you using TNEW? Just wondering as we are not able to do gift certificates.
Hi Jencey,
We do use TNEW, but not for gift certificates unfortunatley. I do know of some orgs who sell auxiliary performances as gift voucher style products, but we are waiting until TNEW can work with gift certificares nativley.
All the gift certificates we sell are over the counter.
