Presenters - how do you announce your season?

Hi. We're working on our marketing budget for the upcoming season of "Kentucky Center Presents" - a series of 40-50 one-night-only offerings.

If you program/present one-night-only shows, I'd be interested in your answers to these questions:

Do you still produce a season announcement sales brochure? Why or why not?

Do you offer flex packages [discount early in the season for people purchasing multiple shows in a single order]? Why or why not?

Have you ever used a mini-site to promote your season apart from content on your institutional site?

If not doing any of the above, how do you market & sell your one-night-only programming? One show at a time...no sense of a "season"?

Thanks.

  • Hi Christine,

Along with our produced season of work, we also do loads of one-nighters!  We absolutely still produce brochures with all shows (packaged and one-nighters) three times a year, as well as subscription package brochures.  We’re a bit limited in putting one-nighters together and doing discounting, but sometimes we can do ‘buy show A and get £10 off show B.’

Sometimes if we notice certain strands of one-nighters aren’t selling as well, we can produce genre-specific print (family-friendly, or folk/classical music) that then gets distributed to a specific target market.  Again, we’re limited on the discounting we can do, but sometimes if we think about doing something early enough, we can build it into discussions with promoters at deal discussion stage.

Hope this helps…  feel free to contact me directly with any questions!

    Cheers,

    Kathleen
