Marketing Manager for Development

Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), an internationally recognized presenter of contemporary performing arts and cinema, seeks Full Time Marketing Manager for Development to provide functional expertise to the development department to help it exceed its goals by strategically planning, developing, and executing best-in-class integrated marketing and online fundraising efforts (including analyzing the effectiveness of said efforts) to ultimately drive demand for BAM's membership and fundraising programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, project manage and analyze online initiatives and campaigns to support BAM fundraising (i.e. Fisher Building, Donate Now Campaigns, Kickstarter, etc.)
  • Plan, develop, and execute an integrated marketing acquisition and retention plan for BAM's membership programs (email, online, events, telephone, direct mail, partnerships, etc).
  • Work with marketing director and development team in identification of key customer segments and develop segment-specific materials and evaluate success of those campaigns to improve effectiveness and drive efficiencies
  • Planning and Analysis:
  • Hands-on understanding of response rates and motivational triggers per customer segments
  • Ability to identify insights that motivate giving and translate that to marketing materials
  • Develop marketing plans and budgets for selected programs
  • Work with marketing department to identify appropriate apertures for membership or giving calls-to-action
  • Creation and Execution:
  • Champion membership and individual giving within the organization
  • Coordination and creation (with BAM design department) of integrated marketing materials that feel of a piece and effectively promote giving at a variety of levels
  • Identify opportunities for cross marketing opportunities or events (especially online)
  • Maintain visibility for membership/giving programs on BAM premises (including signage and marketing materials) and in BAM communication vehicles (BAM.org, email newsletters)
  • Wherever possible create versions/controls to actively monitor success of response rates and drive improvements in our outreach and campaigns
  • Regularly attend BAM performances and member events
  • Maintain and track budgets

 


Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Marketing Manager, in the Marketing industry
  • Fundraising, membership, association, or circulation experience a plus
  • Proven expertise in development of direct response marketing campaigns
  • Ability to translate data into actionable information
  • Knowledge of the not-for-profit development and New York/international performing arts arena
  • Work well in fast-paced environment
  • Interest and knowledge of BAM programming
  • Excellent writer with a strong visual sense
  • Ability to give clear and concise direction to design
  • Knowledge/experience of current online marketing strategies and tactics
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint , and Outlook
  • Interest and knowledge of databases (Tessitura)
  • Willingness to work some evening or weekend hours
 

  Salary is in the mid $50K (Full benefits package is offered)
