The Tech Museum has phenomenal upsell programming that I drool over.

We at the Science Museum aren't in a position to do exactly that at the moment, but we are working on implementing something vaguely similar. If you'd like to chat, let me know; I can fill you in on the Membership Dept approach, and/or can send you to the programmer who's actually doing the code for it.

I am wondering if anyone of you has a method of promoting membership while a patron purchases a ticket online. What I am looking for is for when a non member purchases a ticket and checks out, that there would be a promotional blurb or a tag alerting them "If you were a member you could be saving..." type of tag line. Is this possible? Any one has any suggestions?
