Hi all:
Goal: Find a way to use Tessitura to help us distribute comp vouchers (not hard inventory) and then track redemption.
Possible solution: use gift certificates with a value of $0, and fulfill with comp codes
Context: We currently use ticket vouchers for media partners and corporate sponsorship fulfillment; the vouchers allow us to fulfill our obligation of offering tickets without printing hard tickets that may not be used. Vouchers are redeemed for hard tickets by the voucher holder.
Distribution and redemption tracking are incredibly manual processes, and I'm wondering is Tessitura can at least alleviate the burden of the latter.
Anyone have experience with this approach? Thank in advance for your consideration.
We do not currently do this, but I wonder if you could create a 'performance' of gift vouchers. When you need tickets for a sponsor or partner you can book an order with the correct number of seats, print of 'tickets' that have instructions for redemption and then hand them out. When they have been redeemed you can return the seat to mark it as used.
The only thing that I can see getting complicated is that often the people redeeming these certificates are not the people the certificates were issued to by your org, so linking the individual redeemed seats to vouchers would be tricky (if you want to track that).
That's is what we do and it's been pretty seamless for us. We have dummy perfs for the various types of vouchers we might have (valid for different things, etc). They have a distinct ticket design that prints the rules on it based on ticket text, and they have a specific comp pricetype (or you could use comp reason if that's what you do). But it's a standard ticket exchange, same pricetype used in the dummy perfs and the real perfs so later you can easily see if that pricetype were used on a real perf, the voucher was redeemed; if it's still in the dummy perf, it went unredeemed.
