Online Discounting - What are other orgs doing?

Hi Tessiturians -

We have recently launched a functionality online that allows us to send out a predetermined offer (i.e. 5 dollars off) to our patrons who then can customize it for themselves (with a special title and message) and then share it with their friends through social media or email. 

Does anyone else have similar functionality online? Any words of wisdom or war stories?

    We need to do this too. How do you have this set up in Tessitura/API?

    Hi Gloria -

    This is definitely a completely customized bit that we did but the broad strokes are:

    We create a source and offer in Tessitura. This offer is set up in TR_WEB_SOURCE_NO with some standardized formatting and using some of the custom text fields. Then we have built (or our developer built) pages that does most of the magic. Once the magic is done, we track the custom promos in a local table that links the new promo to the offer in Tessitura. Then we do some more waving of the magic wand in order to have our site check both a standard offer and the custom offer table.
