Email Providers

We are currently using Mailchimp and are considering adding Monkeywrench to be able to integrate our email service with Tess.  Wanting to see if I can find anyone who uses Mailchimp and/or Monkeywrench and can provide any insight?  Or maybe you used to use Mailchimp or Monkeywrench and can provide feedback as to why you switched?  Our marketing person who recently came onboard is comfortable with Mailchimp and wants to stay with that, but if there is something better out there she is open to looking.  Any information would be appreciated!

  • We just switched to Mailchimp after coming from Prospect2 (and Wordfly prior to that). In the next month or so, we plan on getting Monkeywrench enabled.

As the one responsible for email marketing communications for our organization, the switch to Mailchimp has been a breath of fresh air. There were a number of technical issues previously that would significantly increase the amount of time it took to create a simple email or prevent us from using automated services - no issues on Mailchimp at all. It's more costly, but we are starting to see it pay for itself through increased ticket sales via email marketing.

The one thing I will say with Monkeywrench is make sure to fully explain how you utilize your email list in Tessitura (ex. what signifies a constituent as being a part of that list) and know it will continue syncing, provided those constituents meet those email list qualifications, regardless of how many contacts you have left in Mailchimp. So it can be easy to go over your allotted contacts and incur additional charges. We're currently cleaning our database prior to syncing to minimize this impact which is why we haven't connected Monkeywrench yet.

  • We're evaluating email service providers that will integrate with Tessitura (currently on Constant Contact). Wordfly and Prospect2 were the two that I'm considering so I'm curious to hear what issues you were having with those in case we need to reevaluate.
