New vs. Existing Patrons Report

Hey everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone has reports that they run where you can look at any given performance and see the new vs. existing customers? I've been working on setting up a new report for this but I haven't been able to get the results we're looking for yet. The idea here is that we can identify people who are visiting our venues for the first time as purchasers and then better market to these individuals for memberships and upcoming events. The standard New Records Report doesn't seem to cover exactly this scenario, unfortunately, as we're looking to get more specific on a show-by-show basis.

Thanks!

Josh

  • Hi Josh,

Given your marketing goals related to these constituents, I recommend using Lists for first time purchasers either for a particular show (e.g. pull the list at the end of the show run), or within a particular time frame (e.g. yesterday)... or the combination of the two. Using Lists, these can be made to be "dynamic" and quickly uses in combination with Output or Reports for those marketing efforts.

For either example, we need 2 lists:

    1. List of patrons who are not first timers in the time period or for the given show because they previously visited
    2. List of patrons who visited in the time period or for the given show who are not also in the first list

    Not First Timers Yesterday

    • Ticket History Perf Date less than or equal to DayRunDate -2

    First Timers Yesterday

    • Ticket History Perf Date less than or equal to DayRunDate -1
    • List also does not have Not First Timers Yesterday

For first timers to a given show...

    Not First Timers to Show

    • Primary Criteria (shows in the current season that are prior to the show we're evaluating)
      • Ticket History Prod Season is Hansel and Gretel 2022 (2022 Ballet)
    • Alternate Criteria (shows in prior seasons)
      • Ticket History Season is 2021 Ballet or 2020 Ballet or 2019 Ballet or 2018 Ballet or 2017 Ballet or 2016 Ballet

    First Time Customers to Event

    • Ticket History Prod Season is The Rite of Spring 2022 (2022 Ballet)
    • List also does not have Not First Timers to Show
