Rankings - Where to begin

We are looking to begin tackling rankings, which are not currently used in our organization. We did watch the three part webinar series about rankings but are looking for some first hand experience and how other organizations took on the task of planning out their customer roadmap and how that relates to rankings. Is this something you did internally? Did you bring in outside assistance? If so, any suggestions on who to use? Any information on how you went about planning and implementing rankings would be very helpful!

  • I have worked in organizations with very sophisticated rankings and orgs with very simple set-ups. Here's my two cents:

    1. It's ok to start small. Maybe with just a ranking scheme that identifies current subscribers so that when they log in to TNEW, they get recognized and sub discounts are applied automatically.

    2. Think about one problem you'd like to solve or just one question you have. Then see how rankings could answer that. For us, it was my first point: we'd like for subs to log into TNEW and have their discounts show up. How do we do that? Use rankings!

We did use Tessitura to help us set this up. But if you were going to start out big and sophisticated, I would budget seriously for Tessitura help. Sometimes, in rankings discussions, it really helps to have a neutral voice in the room, or at least someone who has an outside perspective on your organization.

    Good luck!
