List Manager v Appeals

I am finding that the information that i pull when i create a list in List manager differs from the same question in appeals. I now now that List manager is not like other database systems where it doesn't eliminate items but includes them.

Please see this example. If anyone can help me that would be great.

Should i use list manager or should i go from the appeal answers? I dont know where the appeal answers pull from.

Show name: Peace Train

Pre sale date 22 January to 31 January

Source numaber 2129

(Note we did another promo once the pre sale finished 2130 which also went to some of the same people)

I was going to paste the screen shots from Tessitura but it wont work.

List Manager

Promotion Source number = 2129

Ticketing perfomance name Like %peace train%

Ticket order date between 22/01/2010 and 31/01/2010

RESULTS: 22

However, when i go into the appeal under campaigns, it shows that successful for source 2129 is 7.

When looking through the contents of the list manager, i have noticed that some people received both 2129 and 2130 but booked under 2130. They come up on the list of 22. I have asked the correct questions, tessitura has given me the correct answer but i would assume that it should eliminate 2130 purchases. However it doesnt.

How do i do that? Like i ask above, should i just go with the 7 in the appeals. But where does that pull from.

Any help woudl be great. or if private emails or phone calls to explain is the way to go, please let me know.

  • Hi Amanda

It seems that the List Manager criteria for Promotion Source Number is looking at the Promotions table for each account and not the source used on the transaction itself, which is why you are getting those results. The customers have booked the performance and in their promotion history they have that source even though it was not used on the transaction.

Whereas the successful contacts in the Appeal for that source would only register those with a transaction against them that used that source.  Transaction means purchase to the performance that source promoted, another performance or a gift.

To make List Manager work you would need to use (or create it if it doesn’t exist) a list criteria that looks at the source on the order. This way it would look for the performance name that has the source of 2129 attached to it. Hopefully, source code is one of the columns in your Ticket History which would make it easy if you need to create a new List Manager criteria.

Hope that helps to explain it.

    Cheers

    Sandra
