Hi all,
I'm hoping someone out there can help me with this question.
I'm trying to pull updated lists for our e-mail database, and some people have multiple addresses where they'd like to receive the same e-mail. Is there a way I can extract a list, or just pull a list, of multiple e-mail addresses for single accounts?
For example, some of our board members want to receive e-mail updates both at their home and work e-mails, but we don't want them to have multiple constituent accounts. How can I suck out and use both e-mail addresses?

We just recently had a need for this. We're using the primary e-mail + a custom second eaddress type, + a custom report to pull the addresses, for cases like this. It's perhaps not as elegant as it could be but is working well.
Hello,
What we did is create a new query element for outputset builder that pulls all the emails and lets you specify the email types you want. Then we use this element to build an output set, then execute it to get all the email addresses. If you would like the details for the query element let me know.
Jon
I forgot to add when you execute the output set you specify a list to run off of. This would be the way to get only centain cutomer or customers.
Are you tracking unsubscribes back at the email address level, or at the global account level? If the first, where are you storing that information?

Another way you can do this is to create an extraction for each of your email address types. This will allow you to incorporate any unsubscribe criteria for the spcific email address type. Then save each extraction to a list. Run each list against the "User Defined Output from a list" report and specify the correct email address type for the list your running.
Hi Annette,
Other members please correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that on the Constituent general tab you can have multiple email addresses (; delineated) in the Email field (ex. both spouses on a record want to receive emails to their separate addresses). This would make all eaddresses listed here as Primary addresses, so I think your issue would work if emails are to be sent to all Primary email addresses.

Hi Duane,
Neat idea, doesn't seem to work with merging directly to emails in word but if you are sure not to include a space between the two addresses it will work with the "send" button on the general tab.
*editJust a quick note that if the primary Eaddress is also the login Eaddress this idea can cause issues. So neat idea but I think the cons outweigh the pros.
I'd also like to add in that this can also interact poorly with TMS and Wordfly. I don't recommend using this method on Primary email addresses, as Ryan points out, this can be troublesome.
If you want to use this method, you may want to consider creating a new e-address type specific to this usage and train users on when to and when not to use this e-address type.
Thanks Ryan and Nick. This is not something that I had tried myself, and I agree that there would be more problems than good uses with this.
Jon,
We've had sucess using a query element as well. We grab all active email addreses (ignoring type). The addresses look to export well using the 'execute an output set' report and will email via TMS although it appears only the first opened email is tracked back into Tessitura. We've made good use of the query in recent days, notifiying our patrons of yet more cancelled performances due to snow.
