Discounts based on zip code

Is anyone aware of a way to grant a discount based on zip code without a sending a promo code?

For example:  I live in zip code 85014.  When I log into my account on TNEW, I am automatically granted a discount for specific shows similar to using a pricing rule based on a constituency.

My thought is no - we would need to add the zip code as a constituency but a co worker believes that there is a way to do it based on the first four of a credit card therefore it should be possible with a zip code.

Thanks for any feedback.

  • Just spit balling here - what if you created a dynamic list for that specific zip code and then used that list in one of the the pricing rules? I know it's not optimal but that would be one way I could think of doing this without creating a constituency.

  • That idea has been kicked around but unless it is a constantly generating dynamic list, we may miss new customers.

I believe that the concept is that the discount looks DIRECTLY at the address and discounts based on the zip code.

The list idea is definitely worth a conversation though - thanks.

  • You could also create a ranking for the patrons in that specific zip code. This is how we manage our subscribers. They have a rank that get's updated to their account based on their package information. Every time they log in after they become a subscriber, during the season, they automatically get the subscriber extra pricing. They don't have to do anything to get that special price. I believe a nightly job runs for that to update new subscriber accounts or it may be an auto-trigger that once their order is complete, they get the ranking. This pre-dates me and my time at The 5th so I'm not exactly sure how the ranking is updated. That might be an option for you to.
