Sources On Renewal Orders

Hello Everyone!  In the case where a subscription orders is rolled over with a general "renewal" source number and then a new source number is added when the subscription is renewed and paid off.

Is there a way to report on the second source number that was added? The mail response report and performance by appeal reports don't seem to recognize the second source added on the order at all.

Any advice on reporting in this particular circumstance?

Hi you should find your new source in the transaction table.  Where a source can be edited, the new source(s) only effect subsequent transactions and not the original source on the order.  Takes a bit of getting used to but this information is easier to get to with recent report enhancements (if I can only remember the latest name for the Campaign Appeal Expense Report!).

What detail are you tracking?  For our needs, order sales channel proved adequate for renewals.

  • It’s been through a few naming revisions, but the name for the old “Campaign Appeal/Expense Report” is “Revenue by Source and Appeal”, which more accurately portrays the intent of this report.

It allows you to report by the source of the Transaction or the Order/Contribution.

Another thing to note here is that as of v8.0 you can change the source of the Order by opening the order details window in the constituent record and changing the source manually.  This will change the order source, but not the source attributed to transactions.
