Mail2 Upgrade

Has anyone recently upgraded their mail2 account to the new dashboard and encountered issues with Tessitura integration? Would love to chat if you have -- we upgraded a week ago and are still having issues, especially with scheduled campaigns.

  • Great info Chuck. I’m going to reach out to Cooper-Hewitt to learn more.

    Hi Howard,

The only other semi-integrated email product option I know of is the connection built to Mailchimp by the Cooper Hewitt museum.  They've shared the code with the rest of the Tessitura community.  Details can be found here:

We are also seeing unusually low unsubscribe rates since our Mail2 upgrade. While that may sound good, we think there's another issue with Mail2.

Has anyone investigated alternatives to Mail2 and Wordfly? Would love to learn if anyone has or is using any other options.

We too have been having issues with the Tessitura Integration functions (if they work at all).

Import List - the counts drop significantly.  We always expect a bit of a difference in counts when moving from one system to another but a few of our lists last week only imported 10-15% of the contents from the Tessitura List Manager lists.  I'd be curious to know if anyone out there is NOT having issues with importing lists.  We too are using CSVs until it stabilizes.

SSX -- when this works we are finding the counts drop across the board.  I have examples of the same list I would send to Tess via the SSX pre-upgrade and post-upgrade and it has dropped by 30K.

Has anyone seen a higher number of hard bounces since the upgrade impacting list size?  Unfortunately the reporting isn't nearly as robust as the old system making in hard to troubleshoot the way I could before...

    In solidarity,

The Tessitura Import function still isn’t working for me today, even though it was supposed to have been fixed yesterday. I’m exporting everything out in CSV files for import. Things seem to import much faster that way too!

It’s nice to know that I haven’t been alone in my anguish.

Here's a quirky error that we're having trouble replicating, and I'm curious if anyone else has seen it:

Twice now, we've had single campaigns, sent to a single contact (me) with no effort on my part. It doesn't mark as "sent", and the only record I have of it is that it landed in my inbox.

If anyone has seen/troubleshooted anything similar, would love to know!

Our issues with scheduled campaigns have been around the inability to pull in dynamic content from Tessitura. We used to easily have "if" logic that would pull in special added information such as teacher names, tour details, performance long titles, etc. if they existed in Tessitura. If they did not exist, they would not show up in the email or would be replaced with genetic info.

Since our Mail2 upgrade a few weeks ago, all that logic/coding and tokens changed and we can't get them working. Mail2 support is trying to figure out what needs to be fixed/changed to get our template working again but, as many of you have experienced, it's taking a long time between responses from them. It's clear they're overwhelmed with all the issues/bugs.

    Howard,

We also have experienced a great many issues with Mail2 since updating, mostly related to importing issues, new tokens, and lackluster reporting. Overall I find the UX design very counterintuitive and miss a lot of the “retired features.”

Our scheduled campaigns are up and running though. What have been your specific issues? Our only big one right now is we used to be able to pull in dynamic copy if someone was a subscriber vs. a single ticket buyer and I haven’t been able to get that working again. I’m supposed to schedule a call with Mail2 to figure this out, but from reading all these comments I’m not particularly hopeful.

Wine was too mild for us. We moved to the hard stuff.

Our scheduled campaigns in Mail2 have been down since our upgrade a few weeks ago. Mail2 understated how different the coding would need to be. Even they can't figure out all the coding to return us to the same info we were able to pull in the old version.

Also, the reporting functionality in the new system is a huge downgrade. Is anyone else suffering from the lack of reporting info?

  • Hello

Interested to see other people have had issues with their Mail 2 upgrades.

Our have been around the new templates we have rebuilt corrupted on 2nd or 3rd use. So each time we start a new email from one of the templates, one or more of the previous formatting errors comes back, or a new one appears, or a combination of the two. We had to build 10 versions of our main email yesterday before we could get a version to send one out.

We also find the new dashboard un-user friendly for editing and the whole system unintuitive

And cluttered - with all our discarded edits and templates that aren't quite right.

Our logos and footers are also corrupted

And we find Mail 2 slow or unresponsive when editing

We used to use mailchimp so interested in how much it is integrated and how it syncs lists - is this into Tessitura? Does it hold one list or several? (We've never totally be comfortable with several versions of the lists being held, one in Mail 2 and one in tessitura)

We chose Mail 2 because of the rsvp system, however its not as easy to use an an unlinked system we used (Pinng/Celebrations)

It cost us a lot to get the mail2 sign integrated into our website, but I am seriously considering the options to move.

Has anyone made any comparisions with Wordfly which is also fully integrated with tessitura?

  • We are actively considering a return to Wordfly - we had switched off three or so years ago, but the situation of late has become untenable. My understanding of MailChimp is that Cooper Hewitt did the customization in house, which we simply don't have the resources for here.

On the other hand, if anyone wants to get together to start a software company that offers a fully Tess-friendly email marketing product, I hear there's a market for that these days.

  • Hi,

We've previously used Wordfly and are now using Silverpop which is owned by IBM. It's opened up some interesting uses in terms of targeting and personalisation, however as it's not fully integrated into Tessitura so comes with its own set of challenges. So I too would be very interested in Tess-friendly email integrations.

  • Hi Everyone,

As we are exploring our options we'd love to speak to some people who are currently using Wordlfy or have switched from Mail2 to Wordfly.  If this is you and you are willing to share your expreiences with me can you please send an email to:  jthomas@92y.org

    Thank you!
