Appeal Category’s,

Hi All,

As of yet we haven’t used Appeal Category’s here and i was wondering if there was anyone out there who is and finds it AMAZINGLY useful??

It may be a silly question but I am trying to see the value in reporting  by the Appeal Category compared to just the Appeal.

Also I am trying to find a report that uses the parameters for Appeal Category and not just appeal.

Oh look it’s Friday arvo here in Aus – I probably just need to turn my computer off and start fresh on Monday!!!

Any info would be great though

Cheers

  • We began using Appeal Category last season.  We do find it amazingly useful for our outbound calling initiatives - for example, being able to break our the success of sub renewals vs. sub acquisitions.   We created custom reporting that utilizes appeal category and sales channel specifically for this purpose. It does create another level of granularity that you can't get to with using one mass appeal or appeal category for everything.  However, I am not sure which Tessitura reports include appeal category as a criteria.

  •

Campaign Revenue Report uses it to group by Appeal Type, which we've found really useful in looking at appeals in groups. We have the following "types":

    MKT Subscription Renewals

    MKT Subscription Acquisition

    MKT Single Ticket

    MKT Other

    DEV Annual Fund

    DEV Board Reserves

    DEV Capital

    DEV Endowment

    DEV In Kind Non Budgeted

    SRO Events (our volunteer organization)

    EDU Education

    DEV Pass Through

    DEV Institutions

    DEV Major Gifts

    DEV Trustees

    DEV Pledge Billing

    DEV Special Events

I use appeal categories frequently in building custom reporting as well, as they fit what sort of buckets our organization often wants to look at.

  • As far as reports that use appeal category: the Revenue by Source and Appeal (v9 title, previously known as the Campaign/Appeal Expense report) allows output to be grouped by appeal category. This was one of the reports we discussed at the Campaign Effectiveness session in San Antonio; the slides from that presentation are available for download and there is Report Help for that report in both v8 and v9.0.
