Email links on mobile devices

Hello!

I am fairly new to Tessitura, so please forgive me if this is something basic (but I couldn't find what I was looking for in a basic forum search).

We have our TNEW site automatically redirect to a mobile site on mobile devices. I didn't set this up, so perhaps there are ways to configure it, but one major problem is that it redirects a link to say, an event, to the mobile "home" page, which, depending on the event date, might not even show the event that the original link was for.

I'm thinking of email in particular right now, but know there are other cases of this. How can I make our email links to event pages

a) Go to the mobile event page instead of our general mobile site if they are clicked on on a device, or

b) Override the mobile "takeover" from the link so they at least go to the desktop event page. This isn't mobile friendly, but I do actually think its a better experience as far as getting event details, etc.

Thanks so much for any advice you might have!

  • Hi Sarah,

I'm not sure I properly understand your predicament, apologies if I am off the mark.

Usually, when you link to a performance on a TNEW page like

    http://tickets.mondaviarts.org/single/SYOS.aspx?p=2631

it will go to the corresponding TNMP (mobile site) page on a mobile phone.  What it sounds like in your message is that you are linking to a page on your *main site* which is why it is going to the TNMP home page on a mobile phone such as

    http://www.mondaviarts.org/events/event.cfm?event_id=1440&season=2014

Hence, it looks like you haven't got redirection set up for your TNEW site.

On your TNMP dashboard, follow the directions in "Mobile Web Setup" menu item.  You need to open a TASK ticket (or ask  the appropriate Tessitura person to do so in your org) and and get the team to place the redirection code in your TNEW site header so it redirects when the user is on a mobile device.  It is possible to switch off redirection for tablets, though.

If you really need to link to your main site (i.e. non TNEW site) add the token ?ignoremobile=Y (or &ignoremobile=Y if proceeding other tokens).  We do this if an email is telling people about subscriptions - which are not yet available on TNMP.  If you were to send an email about education, a link might look like

    http://www.mondaviarts.org/education?ignoremobile=Y

    Hope this helps,

    Kevin

  • Thanks so much Kevin! I'm not positive I understood my question either (ha!) but your answer helped exactly what I was trying to figure out for now. Thank you so much!
