Account update for an organization

Hi All!  I have something I want to bounce of you folks to get any feedback on an account update we need to take care of in Tessitura.

We have a business in Tessitura that is a regular donor, ticket purchaser, contains plans on the account, etc.  This business has been purchased by a different company and is resulting in a name change for the business.

Two ways come to mind on how we can go about making the change in Tess - 

1. Change the name on the existing account and add an alias of the old business name

2. Create a new account with the new name, inactivate the existing account, and put aliases in to link the accounts to each other in some way.

The downside to the second way is that the history then lives with the inactive account and isn't as easily accessible as it would be if we go with the first method.  I think I lean towards the second method to keep things clean and broken apart so that we can truly see what contributions and tickets came before/after the new business name. We also have an association type of "Merger with Another Org" that could keep the link to the previous business name, too.

 Recommendations?  What would you do in this case?
