Hi All
We're having some problems with the way we remove constituents who do not have an email address from our lists and extractions we use for emailing. The problem is linked to the way the household model works in v11 and the way we are storing email addresses.
When we pull a list, it is the household that is getting pulled through, as that is where the transaction is and therefore meets the criteria that we set. That part is correct. The problem arises when we add the line to remove them if they do not have an email address. As the email address is stored on the individual, the household does not have an email address and that is causing most of the households we are pulling to be removed when they shouldn't be.
Does anyone else have a solution to this. I have tried all of the "Add Individual" setting in list manager, with no success. The other option I can see is to make sure that all households have an email address where one of the individuals do, but I don't really want to do that unless it is totally necessary.
Thanks,
Chris.
Chris -
i just posted something in response to a very similar question here:

Essentially we make one list to get the right accounts with the right criteria, then turn that list into an "email list". Hope that link helps somewhat...

Hi Beth
I've just been having a play around with this. While it does remove all constituents where there is no email, it is still removing all of the households where the members have an email but not the household.
Are you doing anything with Add Individuals at the bottom?
What you described is *our* business's intended effect - we literally *only* want the accounts that are getting emailed. If an individual has an email, but the household doesn't, then the household does not get picked up in the list (which you noticed). Note that if you are worried about a particular promoted/inside source appearing in the list when processing a ticket order or gift, an individual's promotion will still appear - even when selling to a household. Just an FYI on that.
It sounds as though you are looking for something slightly different, however. On the second list, you could certainly make some adjustments at the bottom to either roll up the entire list to households (choosing "Replace..." on the "Replace Individuals" tab) or add-in the related households (on the "Add Groups" tab, choose "Add Groups with these Affiliation Types" of "Adult Member (Household)" [or whatever gets you your household type] ).
Hope that helps a bit...
