Download numbers, Tessitura, and TMS

Hi there,

I have a question about TMS email and extraction lists in Tessitura.  Could someone give me a quick overview of the download number, and how it works between TMS and Tess?

The second question, and the main one I'm trying to figure out, is if it's possible to send two emails (with different messaging) using a single download number?  I've built an extraction that has multiple segments, and normally with a mailhouse, we could send different pieces to the segments based on different source codes.  I feel like we should be able to do that in email (so we could assign a different promo code to each group in the different emails), but we haven't actually done it before.  Would there be any problem?  Does anyone out there do dynamic emails and do you have insight?

Many thanks!

  • Hi

The download number is recorded in the t_promotion table when you promote and extraction. TMS uses this along with the customer id to then update the response field, so you get to see opened email, clicked through, hard/soft bounce etc. in the promotions tab

Yes you can send different copy to the same download number.I have done this a few ways before.

If the copy is vastly different I split the extracted list back into segments and load each into their own email profile in TMS and send them with their own email template.
I have also added custom attributes in TMS (under the constituents menu) and then populated  attributes with source number and/or promo code so that all the transactions were accredited to the right source.
    See: http://media.tmsmail.us/pop/tms_help/using_tms/TMS_PersonalizationTags.pdf
for the full documentation on the custom attributes.

    Hope that helps
