Promoting Extra Customers to a Source

Here's a question - let's say I want to set up a source code that I can use a few times as a promo. But I want to be able to send out these offers regularly (say, once a week) to a new list each time.

Is there a way in Tessitura to add extra customers to an already-promoted source?

If not, and I build a custom utlility that can add the source, what are the ramifications of doing that?

  • Hi Matthew!

This might be a silly question, but do they all have to be the same source? Could you not, say, have a single Appeal for this promo/email campaign, and make the first source in it an Outside Source, and use that number to link to your promo. Then each time you email, you could create a new source (for promotional purposes) in the same campaign. That way, all your information would be in the same Appeal, at least. I suppose it all depends on your reporting - but this wouldn't require any custom utility work.

On the other hand, I suppose you could customize something using the procedures behind the two standard utilities Create Promotions and Delete Promotions - though it usually won't delete any promotional record that has been transacted upon.

As far as "appending" more rows - I do remember something about a row in T_PROMOTION - that if it doesn't match the actual source/appeal info, it won't actually appear in the customer record. (Can't remember if that includes source dates or not). Found this through trial and error after moving some sources from incorrect appeal ids.

I can see where your idea would be the "cleanest" - but I can't say I'm sure of all the ramifications of that way, either. Good luck! :)
