We are in the process of testing Element in our TEST environment. Element tells me that our batches will close at 1:30 am each morning for the previous day's sales. I'm concerned how this will affect our daily web batch - which is currently setup in Transcend to batch out at 12:01 am.
The Income by Payment Method report currently matches my Transcend batches. So with Element now batching out at 1:30 am instead of 12:01 am, I'm afraid I will not be able to tie out my credit cards each day due to the additional 1.5 hours of sales that will occur online before the batch closes since the report runs for a specific date. I'm curious if any other orginizations have experienced this and what did they do to adjust their reporting?
HI Melanie,
In my experience there aren’t many transactions that come in that 1.5 hr time frame. But what I’ve been doing is reconciling the total amount every day. If the amount is out one day, it will net against the next day’s transactions. Although I was unaware you could have a custom batch close time. It sounds like that would solve your issue as well.

Hi Melanie - We worked with Tessitura and Element to have the option of a custom batch close time (as they run everything off central time and I'm not in the central time zone). I'd talk to them again and see if you can request it. Originally our batches were going to settle at a strange time for us, and now they settle at midnight along with our Tessitura batch. Heather

Thanks Heather for your response! I have actually been in touch with both Element and Tessitura today. TPAC will be using Element as a gateway and a credit card processor. And although there isn't an option right now for a custom batch time when using them as a gateway & processor, they are working on a solution that will allow for that. So for the time being, I plan on using J.P.'s suggestion!
Thanks again - Melanie
Ahh.. Good to know. We're just using the Gateway piece of it.
We transitioned to Element as a gateway provider in the fall 2013. At that time we were able to get a "custom" settlement time to coincide with our "quite hour" on the web site. However, this came with settlement and reporting consequences, that mean that we now do 2nd day settlement reporting for our web site. Rather than the next day settlement that we were accustomed to with Intrix/Transcend. To get this setup call the folks at Element and be precipitant.
