Gift card incentive financial issues

We would like to offer a "cash card" incentive for certain purchasers, where they would receive something good for $20 off a future purchase of tickets.  How have others of you handled this kind of thing while avoiding the "funny money" problem it can create?

Thank you so much, Sharon Grayton, CSO

  • Thank you to everybody.

We’re handling like a $off coupon at time of redemption, using variable price maps. Not the most foolproof way to handle, but finance likes it better.

    Hi Sharon -

We do this with a GC type and we *do* have to deal with funny money situations. In our case I've written custom reports to deal with it and we lean heavily on the GL.

This is definitely one of those hot topics with Next Gen and a better pricing rules engine!

Feel free to contact me offline if you want to know more about the things we've found going down the 'funny money' route.
