Sage Intacct vs. Business Central

Hi there!

Our accounting software is currently Microsoft Dynamics, but we are looking to make a move to either Sage Intacct or Microsoft Business Central.

Does anyone on here use either of those products? If so, would you be willing to share your experience? We are especially interested in BC feedback but would appreciate any information.

Thanks!

  • Hey Angela,

I'm buy far not the expert you want but in 2019 I joined the TLCC planning committee for the finance section "Tessitura for Finance Teams" (the basics from some exceptional people with good tips).  That was for me to skill up in finding us a new finance system, or helping be better at explaining the needs and use of Tessitura as a sub-leger when we were looking. As a DBA/CRM I wanted to be all the things that were needed of me.

The thing that I ended up doing that was exceptionally helpful was Erin Koppel's Fundamentals of Campaign Fund and Designations.  I'm a ticketing person by trade, but this was a very good fundamental look at what Finance needed and what they didn't.  That was our Fund level.  And what philanthropy/development etc needed that was designation etc. It started off a conversation about what we wanted from GLs and ticketing layers etc.

With those questions in mind, we were really clear to ask the right questions for a new finance system and what we wanted out of an implementation.  We changed or set up in Tessitura substantially for that and it really cleared up our search.

You are probably 100% clear about all of that, but I thought I'd mention it as finance is the life blood of the company, often overlooked and underappreciated until after the fact, but having the opportunity to showcase and empower the finance heroes can be a good way to get the best feedback on needs from Expense and revenue sides of the business.

    Best,
