Deferred Revenue Tips & Tricks!

Hello all,

I believe this was asked a few months ago, though I raise the question again - how are organizations using and leveraging Tessitura in their processes to account for and recognize deferred revenue for future performances, etc.? What reconciling reports are you using? Are there any processes that are working well for you? McCarter is introducing new practices and policies and is looking forward input from those who are already doing this! [Our ERP is Blackbaud Financial Edge.]

  • We wrote our own routines as the deferred revenue functionality in the application is report based which means a report run today could yield completely different results when run 6 months from today for the exact same date range. We also needed to differentiate between expired revenue and revenue recognized from a scan.
